Mitcham - Timber Heading

Allen Watson Timber Heading crew were tasked with installing a heading for a sewer connection of 150mmØ Vitrified Clay drainage pipe for a length of 18m. A heading was the method of choice as a exit pit could not be constructed by the exisitng maniole in the road. The main challenges with this project included the discovery of asbestos when excavating the 3.5m deep shaft to perform the heading out of and the ingress of water as the water table was relatively high. Once the abestos was removed and due to the pumping within the shaft both these problems were dealt with allowing the successfuly installation of the pipe.
